Summary:

As the 7 th Legion of GDS, the Administrative Legion acts as the finance, management, law, and day-to-day operations experts of GDS.

While this may sound either outlandish or entirely believable depending on if you were a member of GDS during the early years, there was functional zero organized administration for GDS until the 7 th legion was formed. Up until that point, “ administration ” as it were was just Arbiter Iza doing anything and everything that had to do with finances, contracts, client negotiations, and legal problems. In fact, many of the legionnaires from the earliest days can still remember being paid via cash in an envelope since there wasn’t even an official way to transfer funds without drawing far too much attention.
Should probably also mention that Iza always included handwritten thank you letters in each envelope. – Nahli
No shit? – Azan
Yeah, they even had doodles sometimes. I remember getting one that had a sketch of a bird perched on a flower. – Nahli
C’mon Iza, where’s your snarky edit? Where’s the denial? Awwww are you embarrassed? – Nahli
Did I reveal that you can sometimes be a girly girl? Are you shyyyyyyy? – Nahli
Note that not only is Nahli banned from editing this document for the next seven days, but she’ll be unreachable through any other means as well. Arbiter didn’t specify why that is. – Hansuke

With other legions, their founding often coincided with the expansion of operations, and the Administrative Legion is no different. While juggling pay for a few dozen employees, handling contracts and speaking with clients is an enormous time sink, it was still manageable. For the first two years GDS clients were bar owners or venue security managers, but everything shifts rather drastically the moment governments and international operations get involved. After enduring through the stress of it long enough, Arbiter Iza began to hire on specialists who would assist with the mountains of paperwork and agreements that were required to send armed security and armed forces into combat areas three continents away. In time accountants and finance specialists were hired to begin formalizing payments, and after a particularly generous contract was fulfilled, lawyers were hired to oversee any future contracts or disputes.

This all was formalized as the Administrative Legion years after GDS had started, and as funding increased so too did the scope of the 7 th Legion. What started as finance and legal soon became standardization, regulatory compliance, facility oversight, documentation, and the miscellaneous tasks that came with running a paramilitary corporation. As a personal note, when Arbiter Iza assigned me to lead the Administrative Legion I felt that there were two crucial areas we needed to cover: education, and culinary services.

These were tasks that fit within no other legion, yet I argued were pivotal to the company’s future success. Legionnaires come from all different backgrounds, and thus no two legionnaires are the same when it comes to education. Some of them had no opportunities, arriving barely literate and unable to multiply ten by five without needing a refresher on the entire concept of numeric values. Others came from background of great education in a few areas, but lacking in others. As their permanent employers, it then falls on us to provide those opportunities, to assist them where others have failed. The greater a legionnaire’s education, the greater that legionnaire can become not just in their role, but in any other role that may interest them.

As for culinary services, it’s simple logic. Everyone fights and works harder when they know they’ve got guaranteed quality food no matter their situation. Workplace violence and stress also tends to drop off a cliff when personnel know for a fact they won’t get to the dining facility that night only to find a cold meal consisting of stale bread, wilted spinach, and an unpeeled potato.

With the ever expanding of responsibilities and areas that the Administrative Legion covers, it became necessary to directly embed Administrative legionnaires within other legions. Rather than having separate facilities that other legionnaires need to go to, the Administrative Legion has accountants, lawyers, archivists and assistants that live and work within the legions they’re assigned to. This dramatically cut down on bureaucratic slowness and red tape restrictions, as the legion responsible for handling those areas is directly accessible without needing to go through middlemen or multi-hour long wait times.

While the Administrative Legion is perpetually and permanently in a state of having our hand full, we still find the time to extend our services in the form of contracts for both governments and private entities. These contracts can include accounting services, legal advice, personnel management, facility management, documentation organization and assisting with clearing out backlogs of paperwork.

For the Administrative Legion, you may find it surprising, but we do have a number of special operations groups. The following is a short summary of those that are currently unclassified.

Brow Beaters
Made up of education specialists, Brow Beaters are deployed to both bases and warzones to instruct and teach legionnaires on a wide swath of specialty subjects. Typically possessing savant level knowledge and highly effective teaching methods, more than one occasion has occurred where a Brow Beater has taught a legionnaire how to properly operate equipment or calculate firing trajectories during an ongoing firefight.

Arlock’s Barristers
A special operations group comprised of international law experts within GDS, Arlock’s Barristers advocate for and speak on behalf of GDS in international courts across the world, as well as handling all legal matters when it comes to operating a military force within another nation’s territory, or conducting warfare against another government. When legal proceedings don’t go according to plan, Arlock’s Barristers are empowered to make create the best possible outcome through any means they deem necessary. As such, they frequently cross train with the Vanguard Legion, Intelligence Legion, Security Legion, and Medical Legion.

50/50
Among all the special operations divisions within GDS, 50/50 is among the easiest to get into for most legionnaires. Consisting of a squadron with one senior financial legionnaire in charge, 50/50 works within the realm of stocks and trading. Recruitment usually consists of randomly choosing legionnaires and gathering them into a temporary squadron. At this point, the squadron leader takes the legionnaires to a stock market, gives them ¥1,000,000 each and sets them loose with no direction whatsoever. At times this has resulted in returns of up to 580%. Other times, not so much.

Tome Watchers
Known as the keepers of all GDS knowledge, members of Tome Watchers oversee the maintenance, content and integrity of Tome. As part of this, members of Tome Watchers frequently work alongside scribes, archivists, and researchers to ensure their work is properly recorded, preserved, and accessible to those who need it. Due to the extent of information kept within Tome, only those that have both the highest clearance and the greatest amount of trust are permitted into this operations group.

L.R.T
The Legionnaire Rescue Team is a rapid response group comprised of legal experts that are dispatched to assist legionnaires in legal trouble, no matter the country, location or jurisdiction. In the event that a legionnaire on an assignment is caught by local law enforcement, L.R.T is sent in to handle the situation and get them out.

Quill Breakers
A team of highly skilled administrators that are sent in to GDS departments, sections, fortresses or teams that are experiencing any kind of paperwork or approval roadblocks. Upon arrival, it often takes the Quill Breakers only 1-4 days to “untangle” the situation and get everything back on track.
