Rifles

Rifles are categorized as "long guns" that are focused on firing precise single shots, or short bursts. There’s arguments to be made about how machineguns are also rifles because you can fire in bursts and be precise, therefore it’s a rifle, but I’m not getting into that. I categorize them differently, and you’re going to deal with it. I won’t cover all our rifles here, just the core ones and some that I find interesting.

Accuracy is always the name of the game when it comes to rifles, where the destructive capacity mostly lies in the targeting of critical areas or weak spots. Or just hitting the target in general. Don't you fucking dare come at me with that 'don't you classify that as a cannon hur hur' idiocy, PTT rounds don't do widespread damage unless you’re using specialty ones.

Alright so we got our rifles, what do we love about 'em?
First up is efficiency, one of two things that get me horny on the firing range. You spot an enemy, pull the trigger, then POP, no more enemy and only one PTT round was expended. Imagine getting smoked by a round so cheap I can't even think of the monetary denomination for how little it costs. My Vanguards always have a Frostpick on hand for that reason; a single shot to the head or torso of whoever is pissing you off and before you know it you're on your way back to base for chow.

Second, precision gives you a lot of options on how you want to engage an enemy. Nothing can hold up to a well-placed shot, and there ain't a creature or person I've come across that just shrugs off a bullet to the sensitive bits (when accounting for scale). You can think of a rifle as the equivalent to going to a fist fight and having the capability to consistently and quickly pop someone in the nose. There’s just no way you’re gonna walk off something like that.

Third, you have the option of range.
Precision is fantastic, but also useless if you have to be half a meter away from someone to score a hit. Range gives you the greatest advantage, since you can engage a target often before they even see you. In the event they start firing back, they’re at a disadvantage since your range is greater, meaning they have to cover ground to close that gap while under fire. That being said, we can also say that range is kinda pointless if you lack precision.
If we add all three of these together in my favorite type of math, we get the following:
Efficiency + Precision + Range = You can dome someone from three kilometers away, with one trigger pull.

With our rifles, we have the following classes.

Doom Cleaver

Heaviest class, used by Wyroks, base defenses, or those with a Nerve Harness.

Disaster Carver

Elite class, used exclusively by spec ops teams or Wyroks.

Decree Crusher

Higher end class, used by specialists and Heavy Vanguards.

Verdict Breaker

Professional class, used by squadron commanders and specialists.

Law Shatterer

Baseline class, used by most legionnaires across all legions.
