GDS Weapon Tech

Introduction

Given that we aren't content to shoot people with normal bullets, the weapons tech within GDS is mostly reliant on plasmatic armaments and munitions. Other than that we’ve got stuff like pulse weaponry, Aeroprene thread weaponry, and then conventional (powder based) firearms. Then a bunch of other shit I can mention offhand but can’t go into detail about because either I don’t understand a goddamn thing about it, or it’s above whatever clearance you’ve got.

While unfortunately discussed in depth further down (after being told “Write it down properly Nahli, I'm literally paying you to sit on your ass so stop bitching about it” a few dozen times) the following is a summary of what each type of weapon's technology brings in terms of benefits.

Plasmatic

  • Ammo is cheap to manufacture.
  • Weapons can fire plasmatic sheathed projectiles, or pure plasmatic energy.
  • Relatively lightweight compared to full metal jacket ammo and shells.
  • Compact ammo storage, gun's firing mechanism contains energy for projectile propellent.
  • Punches and burns through nearly all types of armor and defenses.
  • Within the Celestial Throne, tungsten can be substituted with Allog, meaning limitless ammo supplies.

Golgothic

  • I literally cannot tell you about this as I don’t understand it fully, and I can’t disclose the way it works even if I did. It exists, and that’s all you need to know.

Aeroprene

  • Ammo is super, super cheap to manufacture.
  • When used by experienced Nerve Harnesses users and specially trained Gray Conduits, it straight up cannot miss.
  • Each needle can be used multiple times on the same target.
  • Can pierce and burn its way through just about any armor or carapace it hits.
  • Hundreds of threads can render the largest of enemies into a smoldering pile of gore.

Pulse

  • Purely runs on energy, but also has "burner" magazines that carry charges so the gun can be kept lightweight.
  • Highly effective at defending against swarms of enemies or large crowds.
  • Extremely effective at ignoring armor and breaking anything protected by it.

I’ll also cover ammo variants, some shit we do with our close combat weapons, and other bundles of shit that are gonna ensure I never see the outside of my office. There's allegedly some super-secret squirrel bullshit the Science Legion is working on, but Acris isn't a conversationalist and I've been threatened with having my teeth knocked out if I ever barge into their lab again.
